Digital wallet security - Self Custody

Image
Self-Custody If you truly want to hold your own assets, and by now you should want to, then you need a hot or a cold (hardware) wallet. Hardware wallets are offline devices that allow you to hold your private keys away from your computer, meaning that no transactions can be performed unless you ‘sign’ it with your hardware wallet. This approach protects you from various attack vectors like viruses, theft of your computer, and malicious actors with access to your computer. Hardware wallets, like Ledger and Trezor, are not perfect, but to date, they are the most secure form of storing cryptocurrency.  Hot (software) wallet is when all data is stored on a computer and access to the wallet is not protected by a second layer, as in the case of hardware wallets. Such a hot wallet is the Chrome extension Metamask which can be installed and set up easily. If you want to remove your crypto from exchanges, here is how you do it with Metamask. Download Metamask: Open the Chrome or Brave browser
